Ten Count Fall
Ten Count FallPosted by Ben Thompson
Enter: Ten Count Fall. (Anybody else notice many of these youngster bands have to have a number in their title?) Ten Count Fall is a genuine pop-punk album, with moving riffs and well-postured backdrops. The lyrics from the Rishel brothers leaves some hope.
The Rishel's have simple twists in their lyrics about the poetry of high school romance and the difficulties of being a young adult riddle the tracks for better and for worse.
Early on, the band's debut album, produced by the Suicide Machines Royce Nunley, flickers on and off between promise and lyrics to make your adolescent teenage sister squeel. As the album progresses, so does Ten Count Fall.
The songs become more intriguing as the band ventures out and develops differentiating sounds from song to song beginning with "alone." It tinkers with thoughts of repetition in music and the band growing increasingly tired of the monotonous sounds. If nothing else, the song shows Ten Count Fall is at least thinking positively about the future and making a difference.
You can't expect a bunch of young adults to compose structurally sound lyrics every time they grab a pen, but Ten Count Fall does manage to provide a few gems in an otherwise better than average debut album.
